Board of Visitors (BOV)
The University is governed by the Board of Visitors under the control of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia. The student representative that applies and is subsequently approved for the position will serve as a non-voting member of the full Board and the Board's Student Affairs Committee. Interested students are encouraged to have a good academic standings, preferably a GPA of 2.8 or higher, as well as a history of campus activity involvement. The appointee must be accessible to the student population at large so as to appropriately articulate the opinions and needs of these students during BOV-related meetings. For this reason, basic knowledge of how the campus and the University functions as a whole is required.

Executive Budget Committee
The Executive Budget Committee concentrates on University-wide strategies, priorities, and financial allocations. The University budgetary process defines the major directions for the institution on an annual basis. The purpose of the Executive Budget Committee shall be to provide advice to the President of the University on budgetary issues. The Provost will provide the leadership in budget planning and budget development. Committee members shall have the opportunity to express their thoughts on budgetary matters vital to the welfare of the University. The Committee will hold regular meetings at a time agreed upon by a majority of the members. Additional meetings may be called as required. Meetings usually are not scheduled during June, July, August, September and October. All meetings are open to the University community-at-large.

Health Services Advisory Committee
This group is the administrative liaison between the student community and University Student Health Services (USHS). The members are staff, faculty, and students from both campuses. Responsibilities include selecting the insurance policy for sponsorship by the University and attendance at monthly luncheon meetings for discussion of issues related to USHS and health education. Meetings usually take place at noon on Friday about once a month. Upon signing up for this committee, please call (804) 828-8828 to speak with a committee coordinator.

Honor Council (HC) Student Observer
Upon the appointment of an interested student by the VCU-MCV Campus SGA, the HC Student Observer will sit in on the Graduate and Professional Student Honor Council hearings. The student observer may attend hearings to assess the effectiveness of the Honor Systems and to report to the SGA as appropriate. The observer does not participate in the hearing or deliberation. Hearings and deliberations last at least two hours.

Recreational Sports Advisory Committee (RSAC)
RSAC is charged with providing the Director of Recreational Sports with advice and consultation on all matters related to the fair and equitable administration of the facilities, programs and services provided by the Recreational Sports staff and volunteers. The committee will provide assistance and advice with identifying priorities of users; and with providing consistency and timely information regarding the needs and wants of the various VCU user groups. Special Awards Committee
Empowered by the Board of Visitors, the Special Awards Committee is designed to review nominations for commencement speakers, honorary degrees, and recipients of various medallions. The student representative is asked to meet anywhere from two to four times in the Spring to aid in these award decisions. It is preferred that interested students first become familiar with what these rewards represent prior to committee involvement.

University Appeals Board (UAB)
The UAB hears the appeals of the Rules and Procedures Board and the Honor Council. For the judicial or honor cases of interest, this Board may remand a case, dismiss some or all of the charges, affirm decisions or reduce penalties. The decisions made by the Board then go to the University President as a recommendation, whereupon the final decision is made. Typically, one student is appointed by the VCU-MCV SGA Executive Board along with at least two alternatives. However, more than one representative may be appointed when the SGA Executive Board finds it necessary to do so. The appointee(s) are expected to meet as appeal cases arise.

University Council (UC)
The University Council, as a representative body of faculty, classified staff, students and administrators is established to communicate its views on University-wide issues to those exercising authority over the institution. To that end, the University Council serves to aid communication and understanding among the faculty, staff, students, and administration, and thereby to assist the President of the University to develop and evaluate university programs and policies. Although there are a limited number of openings, any student on the MCV Campus may serve on the UC. It is preferred that interested students understand the University structure, policies and procedures. The representatives should be accessible to the student population at large so as to articulate the concerns and needs of these students at UC-related meetings. As a UC representative, you will meet approximately once a month with faculty and staff throughout the entire University, including President Eugene Trani.

University Substance Abuse Committee
The University Substance Abuse Committee has the purpose of supporting the VCU's commitment to state and federal laws regarding a drug free environment. The committee conducts biennial review of VCU's Alcohol and Drug Policy prevention program, as required by law, so as to determine program effectiveness and provide recommendations for changes to the program if needed. The committee serves the additional purpose of ensuring the implementation of disciplinary actions to policy violators in a manner that is both consistent and fair. The committee members serve 2 year terms and meet once a semester.

VCU Homecoming is a University event planned by the Homecoming Executive Committee. The Homecoming Executive Committee is open to all VCU students and employees on any campus. The interested student that signs up for a position on this committee will serve specifically as the VCU-MCV Campus SGA representative. VCU Libraries Advisory Committee
The VCU Libraries Advisory Committee advocates the central role of the VCU Libraries in the academic enterprise and the University's obligation to support fully that role. The Committee advises the Provost and the University Librarian, VCU Libraries, in areas related to library policy, planning, and operations including: the formulation of library policy in relation to allocating and prioritizing internal and external resources for instruction and research; the allocation of library space; the establishment of library hours; the development of an overall library program advancing research and instruction for the institution as a whole. The committee, which is comprised of representatives throughout the university, meets a month from 2:30pm to 4:00pm.
